Kanye West's Power [Struggle]

the cover for his new single, Power, which he was chosen to open the BET awards with

interesting image and song, particularly these lines:

Now this’ll be a beautiful death
Jumpin’ out the window
Lettin’ everything go
Lettin’ everything go

You got the power to let power come

reminds me of my other post on Basquiat (obviously his artistic motif of decapitated heads/bodies, his own quote "most kings get their heads cut off", which alegedly inspired Jay-Z's line "the same sword they knight you, the gon goodnight you with")...an irony particularly Eshu-like...

  1. Hey, I just stumbled on your blog yesterday.. I love your analysis! I read your first blog post and when I read it, I knew that it was the blog to follow as you seem incredibly pragmatic about the content you post about - having delved into research on all religions/spiritual worlds. I am an incredibly spiritual person, grown up a Hindu and have believed in spirits all my life. Yet I foolishly believed that what I listened to and watched needed to be taken at face value. From many of your posts, I see a lot of myself, the music, the movies (esp the Dresden Dolls, Amanda Palmer, Cabaret, Beyonce, Gaga, Neil Gaiman)- its all there.

I recently discovered the world that I stupidly brushed off as "thinking too deeply", yet I couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing something.

    Keep it up!
