The water from which the land was born, the Original womb from which we all came. "Mother of the fishes": is it mere coincidence we begin as fish shaped in the womb? They poison our water supplies and thus poison our wombs, making us drugged and infertile, even the men....Such pollution, deliberate contamination of food, water, air with toxins, chemicals, hormones, mood conditioners, low frequencies...When will we escape and heal? When will we honor the mother energy by nurturing the earth, stopping the materialistic madness, and nurturing ourselves by fighting to give ourselves real, healthy food, pure water, clean air, biodegradable clothes, etc.? *sigh* just random thoughts today

Queen [of Babylon] Inanna, Ancient Sumerian Goddess praised as “Queen of Heaven” famously descended into the Underworld to penetrate the darkness and re-ascend symbolically as the rebirth of Spring. The symbolic raising of Kundalini energy or the female Fool’s Journey of the Tarot, Inanna’s descent and resurrection is a psychologically resonating journey all man and woman experience in some way at some point in their lives. It just so happens that this journey is reflected, much to the surprise of many music fans who take the average music video at face value, in pop singer Rhianna and her relationship through music with rapper jay-Z (starting with "Umbrella" and "Disturbia" videos).
Her mentor since the age of 14 (who curiously locked her in a room-- an underage girl!-- until 3am [the witching hour remember] to sign her initial contract) and self-professed “big brother”, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter signed Rihanna to the Def Jam label during his tenure as CEO, and managed her until his 2008 departure. Now, with his own label Roc Nation, he has joined forces with Rihanna and superstar Kanye West to form a superhero-like trinity—a truly paradoxical Rocafella(er) Godhead, if you will. The debut of this trio was their song and occult music video “Run This Town”, in which RIhanna is proclaimed “Queen of the Underground” ruling beside her consort (or consorts, but mainly Jay as God of the Underworld or Death: "all black everything")—like Greek Persephone to Hades—over the Masonic mob of demons.
Now, I find this quote interesting:
[It reads better and lines up with the symbolism better if you read "Ereshkigal" as "Beyonce" and her husband as Jay-Z ;)]
Ereshkigal, like many goddesses, has about five or six conflicting myths that we know about. Some say that she was a sky goddess that was kicked out, and her rage is because of being abandoned by her family. Another myth says that she chose the underworld because she desired knowledge[illumination; power; transcendence to "do what thou wilt"]. One of the myths that intrigues me most of that of The Bull of Heaven, a rapist thrown into the underworld because of his crimes. Ereshkigal marries him after reforming him and showing him the error of his ways. This was before she got the hots for Nergal, of course.
Depending on the culture, either Inanna went into the underworld because she hungered for more power and used Ereshkigal's husband's death to enter the Underworld, which ticked off her sister and that's why she "looked upon her with the eye of death," or it had nothing to do with Ereshkigal's husband at all.
About attributes of Inanna, this worshipper wrote (my commentary in red):
I started looking for a goddess who should fulfil the following requirements:
a) She had to have had a full range of feminine experiences not man-defined, but asserted by HerSelf in all worlds, by Her own deeds and choices;
b) She had to be vibrant and passionate and courageous. Why should Love and passion, expressions of Life Force, be alienated from the Divine?
c) She had to possess a Warrior´s drive and energy to rouse and motivate towards action; [see video as Rihanna leads the crowd at 1:56-2:05....she looks pretty fierce, commanding, aggressive]
d) She had to relate well to the masculine [Rihanna has had a masculine energy since "Good Girl Gone Bad", rumored to be a lesbian, hangs out with Jay and Kanye, surrounded by men], human and divine. The Assertive, Galant Lover has always been a strong neglected feature of the feminine that I wanted to see in a positive light. The Fatal Man-Eater tired my Soul, because in the end she just reproduces the shadow of men´s fears towards the feminine or a woman´s ambiguity about an experience of the Self that should be all life-affirming. I was looking for the image of Seduction, which involves the courting of the Divine in others and in the Self that is not based on power-over but in reciprocity and sharing. I came to name Her as the Beloved and Lover united as One;
e) She had to have gone to the Underworld, because I have always been fascinated by descent stories. The Descent, however, should have been by her own choice, not as a kidnapping or abduction by whatever means; [Rihanna seems to have come of her will, unaware of what truly was to come that she is now trapped in....all the qualities above fit Rihanna and/or the Image of her shown in paparazzi pics, videos, songs, etc.]
